Exploring with freedom

So close to Amsterdam and that many times it is the great forgotten… You may not know it, but Utrecht is the medieval Dutch city par excellence. Believe us, this city looks like something out of a Disney movie! We’ll pick you up where you tell us to and we’ll spend the morning at what was once the northern border of the Roman Empire. Yes, yes, as you hear it, and that is that Utrecht is also known today for its university atmosphere that fills it with life and color. What do you say? Shall we go now?

On this daytrip to Utrecht, we will leave Amsterdam in our private transport to discover one of the most charming cities in Holland with one of our specialized guides.

In Utrecht we will visit the Oudegracht and Nieuwegracht canals, famous for their unique shape in the world, with piers, cellars, bars and restaurants at the height of the water.

Through its labyrinthine streets we will discover the Romanesque churches in the form of a cross on the map of the city, being the first time in the history of Christianity that the plan of the city is made according to the situation of the churches.

We will visit the famous Dom Tower, which is the highest point of the city and the highest historical monument in the whole country and other historical buildings such as the Academiegebouw, the Pandhof or the place where the Treaty of Utrecht was signed.

As it is a private tour, you can enjoy and take your time to take photos or buy some souvenirs. The exact itinerary can be agreed upon at the beginning of the tour to fit the groups’ wishes, within the limits of the maximum duration of the tour.

01.

Dom Plein

We know what you’re thinking, Amsterdam Dam, Utrecht Dom… those Dutch don’t complicate things to pick names. Far from being the typical square, here you will find the highest historical building in the country; the Pandhof, a landscaped film cloister and the University Rectorate, where the Utrecht Union was signed.

02.

Nieuwegracht y casa del Papa

A few hundred years ago there was a Dutch pope, and despite being a little “tiquismiquisquis” when it came to building his residence, know that he never lived in it. As if that were not enough, the gossips say that the ghost of Luis Bonaparte’s wife lives in that house. Come on, this house has sea cloth!

03.

Oudegracht

In case you didn’t know, Utrecht was born between two main canals. Guess what they are? Yes, the Oudegracht which means the old and the Nieuwegracht which, of course, is the new.
