The untold story of two great masters
Whenever someone mentions the great Dutch painting masters, there is a good chance they are referring to either Rembrandt van Rijn or Vincent van Gogh (or both). They are some of the greatest Dutch artists of all time. And while their lives were separated by centuries, their works turn out to be more similar than you might think.
The exposition Van Gogh & Rembrandt in Amsterdam tells the story of how the two painters are connected, how Van Gogh became fascinated by Rembrandt and even inspired by him. The story is told through Van Gogh’s letters to his brother (recited in English) as well as the artwork of both artists. Van Gogh & Rembrandt in Amsterdam is an immersive experience that will leave you mesmerized.

A story told through light and sound
Van Gogh & Rembrandt in Amsterdam is the first immersive son-et-lumière (sound and light) show to be shown on such a scale inside a national monument. The show uses the entire interior of the Noorderkerk, from the walls to the brim, as its setting creating a 360° moving canvas. Inside the church, you’ll find yourself surrounded by sunflowers, angels and blossoms as you experience the admiration Vincent van Gogh had for Rembrandt van Rijn.
The story unfolds around you, while you lay down in the comfortable beanbags or take a stroll through the church. You’ll see and hear how Van Gogh found inspiration in Rembrandt’s paintings, etchings and the views of the great master. You could call Rembrandt the first influencer that ever lived!
